What do you do?
I help clients get more customers through their websites. I work with clients at the forefront of marketing innovation, teaching them the value of SEO and GEO. This also involves ensuring that these approaches are reflected across wider marketing strategies, so I advise the rest of the team on best practices, especially when algorithm updates make those change! This involves using a variety of tools and techniques, both old and new, to show the impact of our work.
The highlight of my work is seeing clients’ reactions when they realise that they are starting to get customers from ChatGPT and Gemini. There’s usually a quiet period where we are working hard and anticipating the results, so it’s great when we can start to say “that new client came from ChatGPT following the optimisations we’ve made over the last few months.”
Tell us a bit about yourself
My professional career started when I became a web developer, where I built and optimised websites to improve accessibility, user experience and grow revenue. I did that for thirteen years, so I know a thing or two about what makes a website work well!
From there, I moved into a Marketing Manager role as my interest in marketing flourished. There, I was responsible for a whole array of client work, including paid ads, SEO, email marketing, CRM implementation, operations and sales systems. I also got involved in all aspects of the agency’s website process, from defining the standards and partner selection to the site architecture, content and ongoing maintenance once live.
I always try to leave things better than I found them, learn from mistakes and stay on the front foot. If a client wants success in organic search, these are critical values for that too!
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I collect and create bonsai and am chairman of Redditch Bonsai Society. I also seem to spend an unholy amount of time weeding the garden.
