What do you do?

I am responsible for overseeing the production of written content from the copywriting team. Most of the marketing that is done by our full-service agency requires words, meaning that this team is involved in a wide variety of tasks. On a daily basis, I might be writing a combination of blogs, press releases, e-shots, website pages (including this very site!) and whatever else helps our clients stand out from the crowd. A big part of what I do is finding the space between SEO and GEO requirements and design needs to ensure that both humans and robots will read the content we produce.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Writing has always been my greatest passion. I completed a PhD in Creative Writing at Keele University with my specialism being trauma fiction. From there, I spent time working as an online tutor and lecturer, teaching English to people of all ages and creative writing to adults. I spent some time working as an R&D tax consultant, where I discovered a passion for copywriting by assisting the marketing team alongside my report-writing responsibilities.

Having joined what was then known as JE Consulting as a Copywriter, I worked my way up to the role of Content Manager, where my previous experience serves to help the team reach its full potential. The research skills I developed in academia and in R&D tax consultancy now lend themselves to ensuring that businesses from all sectors get the specialist marketing they deserve.

I value creativity and the human spirit above all else. I steadfastly will not write content with AI, as I believe that there is a piece of humanity in all that we produce that is lost once the machines take over.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

Being a parent takes up most of my time! I still try to write for fun, when I get the chance, and can often be found reading, playing video games or spending time with my wife and our son.
